Midlands Provincial Grand Lodge, Annual Parade & Service

Wolverhampton

 Saturday 11th June 2011

Bros David Phelps, William King and Terry Trudgian travelled to Wolverhampton to join Brethren from Midlands province, and others, for their annual parade and service. The parade route was near to Wolverhampton centre and led to St Peters Church where an open-air service was held in the church square. The threatened heavy rain showers held off to the relief of all assembled.

A number of addresses were given including that by the Most Worshipful Grand Master of England, Bro R Bather HDGM. During his address Bro Bather spoke of the difficulty in some areas in getting permission, and local opposition, to march. He praised the effort put in locally in organising this event with both the local Police and Council. The parade, on public roads, passed entirely incident free with no police presence, a testament to the superb organisation by Lodge stewards.

Music was provided by Corby Purple Star Flute Band. This highly regarded band again came up to standard with excellent accompaniment to both the march and service.

After singing Land of Hope and Glory, and God Save the Queen the parade made the short walk back to the muster point and stood down. Parting exchanges were made and thanks given to Midland Province and Wolverhampton for their warm welcome.
